Hi friends! Happy Tuesday.
Hope your week is off to a great start. I cannot believe we are ALMOST to the end of the year. As it quickly approaches, the talk of resolutions and reflections from the year that has passed will amp up.
Let me just say it: I’m NOT a resolution gal. Why? The best reason is that I want to continually self improve the whole entire year round. I don’t want that to be an annoying statement, so hear me out. ALL the podcasts and audiobooks that I listen to could fall into the general categories of positivity, self improvement, business improvement and inspiration. During this busy time of life, I know these really help to boost my drive and energy on a daily basis. If you missed my post entitled Make a Push Toward the Positive, I would highly recommend reading. The podcasts and audiobooks I mention in it will make YOU want to improve the whole year round too! Before you know it, you’ll be thinking about what you can improve and NOT just on January 1st. If you haven’t tried Audible yet, take the plunge. I listen to audiobooks during any long drive and even on my commute from work and back. Use this link to jump right in: Try Audible and Get Two Free Audiobooks. Download You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life and Bittersweet: Thoughts on Change, Grace, and Learning the Hard Way as your two free books and get ready to tackle the year with a fresh perspective.
There is nothing wrong with resolutions and if you feel motivated by them, have at it! I’ve just never done well with make proclamations on January 1. Drew and I like to check in throughout the year to see how we are doing in different departments. For example, we have a financial meeting every month.
I saw this 2016: A Recap post and became inspired to recreate it for 2017. It will be SO fun for our little family to reflect back on what our highlights were from each year. You can click on the titles of must of the highlights to read more about them!
Highlights from 2017:
Trey Daniel Kiefer: Ending the year with our second baby has been the best gift we could ever ask for. Trey was a surprise to Drew and I, but we look back and think about how perfect it turned out to be. We’re head over heels for our sweet second baby and he has been the perfect addition to our family. We love you to the moon and back Trey babe, sleepless nights and all.
Balanced Boom: I can hardly believe how many MORE people have been showing up here. I say that humbly because a whole lot of blogging and social media posting happened before there were more of you. In fact, about 2.5 years worth 😉 Thank you for those that have been here since the beginning and those that have recently found our little family. We’re glad you are here and look forward to keep sharing a slice of our perspectives and world with you.
A Business Baby is Born: I loved reading my 2016 recap because I was JUST starting to drop hints about my business baby: Expecting and Empowered. It took a WHOLE lot of work to get this comprehensive pregnancy fitness guide into the world, but my cofounder and sister Krystle and I have ALREADY experienced enormous pay off. We love supporting women from all over and getting to know them via the Expecting and Empowered Mama Community. We are excited to tackle a postpartum guide and get it out into the world.
Trip to California and Oregon: I joked that we had to keep on having babies so that we could keep on going on these AMAZING babymoons. Drew reminded me that we didn’t need to be pregnant to go on a vacation just the two of us. In our marriage, there is no better way to connect than time spent just the two of us.
New job: I started at the UW Chemotherapy Clinic in February. I LOVE my new job and have met incredible patients and coworkers. The switch has been great for our family because mama no longer works any weekends or holidays. SO glad we made this decision and it helped set the tone for the year.
Growing family: My sister welcomed her second baby Avery and my best friend/sister-in-law welcomed her first baby Autumn. Along with some good friends having babies (hey Lisa!) it has been one blessed. year. Nothing sweeter than raising our babies up with our families and friends.
Another year stronger: Drew will always be the highlight of my life. I scored SO big in the husband department. This year he has shown how incredibly supportive he is. To have a partner that truly believes in you and cheers for you makes life SO dang sweet. The blogging and business launching wouldn’t be possible without Drew being willing to watch our babies, offer his advice and cheer me on. Love you always!
Hope you had a great year too!
