Hi friends! Happy Friday.
I’m SO darn excited for this post today! I reached out to Mandy over at Nourishment: a Personal Chef Service to see if she would want to collaborate. Mandy and I bartended together (hello Brother’s Bar and Grill- La Crosse) in college and I stumbled across her Instagram after noticing she was sweetly commenting under my photos.
SO glad I did because I was able to get a glimpse into what she is up to…and I loved it. Her posts inspire me to want to meal prep, eat healthfully, and she also just spreads a good message about food/health. I’d highly recommend following her!
When I share a business on here or social media, it is because I really believe in what they are doing! It doesn’t matter how big they are, or how big their following is (we ALL started somewhere…heck, I just had my personal friends when I turned my Instagram into my place to spread the messages I believe in). I was hoping that by sharing more about her, the right people would find her and fill up the rest of her spots!
I’m going to let her tell us a little more:
Ames: Tell us why you decided to start Nourishment: a Personal Chef Service?
Nourishment was born from my innate and undeniable love of menu planning, grocery shopping, and cooking coupled with 7 years of working as a nanny. It was during my time as a nanny where I saw the immense amount of time and effort parents expended to get everything done. The relationships I built with my nanny families were (and still are!) very special and I wanted to find a way to help make those families’ lives easier. I knew if I could check a few items off of parents’ to-do lists each week it would be a win-win situation for everybody. Wouldn’t you rather spend Saturday morning playing at the park with your kiddos instead of schlepping around the grocery store?! Ames: Heck yes!
Although I enjoy cooking, sometimes after a full day of cooking for others it’s nice to have an arsenal of prepped food to make dinnertime a breeze. I usually have a big batch of roasted veggies in the fridge. We put them in everything from quesadillas to salads and omelets. I also like to keep cooked grains, like quinoa and farro, at the ready. Then we just add veggies, beans, or greens (whatever’s in the fridge!) and a bit of vinaigrette and we’ve got a simple, delicious meal that’s ready in no time.
SO on Monday Mandy came over and had a cook day for us! She grocery shops, brings ALL cooking utensils, and goes to work! Next, she packages all the food up (we requested it be in lunch portions for our work week), leaves them ready to go in your refrigerator, cleans up the kitchen, and leaves. The ONLY things you have to do is fill out the food preferences questionnaire, approve her suggested menu, leave her a way to get into your house, and pay the lady 😉
I LOVED this idea because as a mama that is launching a business, running a blog, working 24 hours a week at my nursing job, growing a human, taking care of a crazy little human, and being obsessed with my husband…sometimes meal preparation takes the back burner and I end up bringing a peanut butter and jelly sandwich to work. OF COURSE I WAS SO MUCH MORE EXCITED to open these meals. Mandy made us turkey taco bowls and peanut-lime chicken bowls and Drew and I got to try each of them twice! Actually, I did end up stealing one of his…hahaha.
We LOVED both meals. It was SO awesome to just take them to work, pop them in the microwave, and have a delicious and healthy meal ready to go. We loved that Mandy’s cooking style is innately healthy!
It made mama life a whole lot easier for the week and we can easily and highly recommend her! She is SO darn sweet and personable, which is just icing on the cake…and believe me, you’ll trust her in your house. As she mentioned before this she was a nanny, and I believe nannies are just special and warm people 😉
This would be the perfect fit for you if you are a family that is constantly on the go and are eating out a lot. You can go ahead and set up a consultation if you are interested! The costs depends on your needs: i.e. are you a family of 4 that wants lunch and dinner every week, or a busy couple that just wants lunches?! From Mandy’s website: “Prices vary depending on your needs, but you can expect to pay between $200-$350/week for 3-5 entrees of 2-6 portions each excluding groceries. You will receive a personalized quote upon completion of the consultation.” She has a few slots left for a few people/couples/families, so take advantage before she fills up…I have NO DOUBT this gal is going to. She serves the Madison area, so sorry to those that live afar.
What makes it worth the moola is that you are getting nutritious meals (Mandy’s style of cooking, although she can do anything you request…although I know my readers won’t request unhealthy 😉 ) and SAVING time. Maybe you value your TIME with your family on a Sunday MORE than doing all the grocery shopping/food prepping OR maybe you know you are eating like crap and constantly buying your lunches/dinners out anyway and could really use her to come in and revamp your diet and get you on track.
If nothing else, I hope this post spurs you to prepare your food ahead of time so that is easier to make more healthful decisions 😉
Thanks again Mandy, we are SO happy to support you and cheer you on. Can’t wait to watch you grow!
Have an incredible weekend! Ames
