Hi friends! Happy Tuesday.
Hope everyone had an incredible weekend. We sure did over here.
Drew, Maxwell, and I were able to spend a weekend full of time with friends and family. On Monday morning, Drew was giving us me a kiss goodbye and said, “I was just thinking how very thankful I am for you while I was brushing my teeth. I had an incredible weekend and I’m excited to spend many more like this.”
Not only were those words sweet, but it made me so very thankful. As I head into my first week at my new job, it is really important for me to remember all the reasons why I decided to make a change. The biggest was so that we’d be able to spend more quality time with friends and family.
Lately, I’ve been reminiscing about our babymoon to Kauai, Hawaii. For a couple reasons: a few of the people I follow on Instagram are there right now and the recap blog post I wrote about it gets daily views (thanks to Pinterest) and so I see Kauai come up almost every time I log into WordPress.
Now that it has been about a year since our trip and 8 months since the birth of our sweet baby boy, I just wanted to say that our stance remains very pro-babymoon. Becoming parents has given us a new perspective and as Drew and I talked about it last night we would say: GO if you can!
For a few reasons. First and foremost, vacationing when you are parents takes a lot more planning. We’d have to figure out who would be able to watch Maxwell for a week. We would also have to figure out when would be the right time to get away. We haven’t yet left Max overnight yet (planning an overnight date in April), and a vacation would mean a lot of overnights away. I’m still breastfeeding and producing a good amount of milk meaning I would have a lot of pumping to do on vacation if we went anytime soon. On and on, just more logistics. Of course people figure it out and do it. Drew and I do want to go on a vacation just the two of us sometime, we just haven’t planned anything yet. It makes us appreciate our last vacation before the little guy came even more!
We have SO many special memories from Kauai. We picked out the name of our future baby in this little Italian restaurant. I can remember what we ordered and how we decided on the name. We didn’t know the gender, so we picked out a name for a little guy and a name for a little girl. Maxwell was picked in Kauai, how cool is that?!
Most importantly, it gave us time to relax and get excited about the arrival of our little one. If you read the recap, you know that we did a lot more hiking than kicking our feet up (but, we came back feeling SO refreshed and reset).
The older I get the more I valuable EXPERIENCES over things. I don’t need designer anything, but I do want to get back to Hawaii, over to Australia, Iceland, New Zealand, Utah, etc. etc.
Hope you guys have a terrific day. I’ll get the treadmill workout up by tomorrow and then on Thursday we’ll talk about HEALTH.
