Ames: Take us through your postpartum fitness journey! Was it tough to get back in shape?
Amanda: For me I really didn’t have a hard time getting back into shape. Working out consistently through pregnancy really helped me and my body recover. I was also lucky Wyatt was born in the summer so I was able to go for daily walks with him. The first 6 weeks I took it easy by just taking care of him and going for walks/nursing. Once I was cleared by the doctor then I was back to picking up my intensity. 8 weeks post baby I had lost most of the weight I gained, but by 20 weeks post I really felt the best. Not going to lie it took a while to not pee my pants from doing a jumping jack but I’m glad that is better now! 🙂 I really was lucky with my postpartum and stayed as positive as I could knowing my body had just gone through such a change. It also helped having an understanding husband who would stay with the baby for an hour so I could get my workout in and leave the house and go to boot camp. Ames: This is great Amanda! Thank you for your honesty. It is wonderful to hear about someone who took their time in the postpartum period + still got back in shape. I’m having a women’s health physical therapist on very soon to talk about postpartum issues, such as incontinence!
