Let’s talk about who you surround yourself with.
On Tuesday I headed to TuesdaysTogether, which is a gathering for small business owners and creatives to come together (read more here + if you live in Madison…join our group). People who believe in community over competition and want to learn from each other and grow together. It has been a blessing to start to get to know this group, and I look forward to continuing the friendships that have started and watching their businesses grow.
On Wednesday night I met my girlfriends from our church group to catch up over dinner. It was the first time I was able to meet the first baby of the group! Over the past year, I’ve grown with these ladies in Christ. We support, encourage, and confide in each other. The conversation is raw and in our second year together we’re looking forward into diving further into more personal topics in our marriages and lives.
Here is why I told you those things: I choose to surround myself with people that are positive, uplifting, and supportive. There is SO much negativity and doubt in the world, so if you find people to lock arms with for life’s ups and downs, people that support you and want the best for you…hold onto them. Let them know how much you appreciate them and love them. Be a good listener. Put down your phone and show how much you are invested in them.
I love that quote. We need the stability and support. There will also be times in our lives when we need to take feedback and the people we love and trust will be the ones that provide the most meaningful feedback Learn to understand the difference between constructive feedback and negativity. Look around you and think about what type of people you are surrounding yourself with: are they making you better?
I hope everyone has the BEST weekend! I’m headed into my work weekend: four 12 hour shifts in a row. Oofta, I’ll try to stay balanced you guys 🙂
